20 YEARS OF STORYTELLING!! – Storytelling Starts October 23rd

Calling all storytellers!! We need storytellers!

Now in its 20th year at Jennings school, the storytelling program will again be enthralling students with age-appropriate seasonal tales the week of October 23rd

Storytelling takes place twice a year at Jennings, with seasonal-themed stories traditionally told in the fall, and folk- or curriculum-related tales told in the spring.

Storytellers are placed on one of three grade-level storytelling teams (K-1, 2-3, or 4-5 team) that share stories with all classes of those grade levels.
Unlike “parent readers”, Jennings Storytellers do not read from books. Rather, they select, memorize, rehearse and then re-tell tales in the ancient “oral tradition” of storytelling. This lost art is provided to our students as an enhancement to the language arts curriculum and, while thoroughly entertaining, provides numerous academic benefits as well.

We need more storytellers to join our current crew! Please don’t let this tradition disappear from Jennings. It is truly a student favorite with the storytellers quickly becoming legends in the halls of Jennings!
