On Thursday January 24th the Board of Education unanimously approved Dr. Toni Jones’ 2019-2020 Operating Budget.  The budget includes a 4.99% increase over last year’s budget, of which 3.66% is attributed to salaries and benefits. Some key areas of focus include:

  • For elementary schools, the complete implementation of STEAM by adding K‐2 across all 11 schools, implementation of a Mind Up (mindfulness) curriculum across all 11 schools and a new accelerated math program (Math Academy) which targets high performing math students across the district. In addition, there will be a continued focus on professional development and materials support in science, and more social emotional learning and interventions support.
  • Expansion of the Early Childhood Center (ECC), a federally mandated program, to accommodate a quickly growing enrollment.
  • Delivering comprehensive instructional programs, implementing effective classroom practices and tracking of school and individual student progress, and including more resources for teachers.
