On Tuesday January 8th Dr. Toni Jones, Superintendent of Schools, presented the Proposed 2019-2020 Operating Budget to the Board of Education.  This year, the Superintendent’s Proposed Budget recommends a 4.99% increase, of which 3.66% is attributed to salaries and benefits. The remainder is attributed to an increase in utilities, transportation, curriculum and instruction costs, as well as additional maintenance projects district‐wide. A focus this year is expanding the Early Childhood Center (ECC), a federally mandated program, to accommodate a quickly growing enrollment.

Also, this year’s budget will continue to deliver comprehensive instructional programs, implement effective classroom practices and tracking of school and individual student progress, and include more resources for teachers. Specifically, elementary schools will see the complete implementation of STEAM by adding it to K‐2 across all 11 schools, a continued focus on professional development and materials support in science, and more social emotional learning and interventions support.
