Assignment Books

The PTA provides all students in grades 3, 4 and 5 assignment books to assist teachers in guiding students  on how to be organized in and out of the classroom.   This helpful tool is also used by teachers and parents as a way to communicate expected homework assignments. Event Chairperson:

CANE

An important part of the science curriculum, this town-wide program is a vital part of your child’s education.   Parent Volunteers lead in-class presentations and field trips for hands-on learning experiences for our students.   Parent Volunteers participate in  a training session (one hour), held at the Connecticut Audubon Society, is required for each trip/presentation. …

Diversity Day

This one day event involves assisting our school psychologist and social worker in bringing awareness to our students so that they learn compassion for those with special needs.  Diversity Day is an annual event conducted for our third graders. Run by Room Parents

Garden

The Jennings Garden is a hands-on learning experience for all grades at Jennings. Each grade is responsible for the planting and upkeep of their section of the garden assisted by Parent Volunteers.  This program is designed to enrich the science curriculum. Publishing First and Second Grade

First and Second Grade classes take written stories and turn them into typed, illustrated and hardbound published works.  First graders will publish a book for the Spring-time “Author’s Tea”; the second grade publishes their annual marine life research project into a book.  Publishing is done in the Spring.

Reading Incentive

Reflections

The Reflections program is a nation-wide, PTA-sponsored contest open to all students. Students may enter their work in the areas of photography, musical composition, visual arts and literature.
